My father spelled his name "Adrian" and my grandfather always spelled his name "Adrain." Whatever anyone may think about what the correct spelling was or should be, I should think that we should respect the preferred spelling of each individual ancestor. I am the son of Adrian Hulet Cook and Martha Watson. My grandfather is Adrain David Cook, the son of David Franklin Cook and Maria Louisa Smith. I am a retired professor of history (BYU and UVU) and have been preparing a biography of my father for several years. In the process of my research, I have discovered errors in the birth and death dates of Adrain David Cook. The correct birth year should be "1879" NOT 1880 and the correct death date is October 14, 1911, NOT October 7, 1911. The errors have been perpetuated throughout all of our family histories, cemetery headstone, and LDS church sources. I presume that making these corrections, across the board, will be difficult if not impossible. In any case, we should begin the make the effort.
