A VIOLENT DEATH.
While plowing with a three-horse team last Saturday on his son's farm near Laura, Mort Willard met with accidental injuries which resulted in his death. Mr. Willard who has resided in Chillicothe since he sold his farm has been assisting his son with his farm work during the busy season.
Saturday morning he was plowing with a riding plow and a 3-horse team when in turning a corner one of the animals stepped over the trace, frightening it, and jumping forward threw Mr. Willard from the seat backward where his clothing caught and held him fast while the team dragged him about 40 rods over the hard ground, finally stopping when the lines became wound around the wheel. Help was soon at hand and Mr. Willard was carried to the house. The bruises inflicted did not seem serious though internal injuries resulted in his death five hours later.
Edward Mortimer Willard as a citizen of Chillicothe was very well known. He was 65 years of age, the greater portion of his life having been spent in the vicinity. The wife and three children. Harry, Mrs. P. E. Phillips and Mrs. Belle Merrill, survive him. Funeral services were held Tuesday at M. E. church.
