      RESEARCH:
RESEARCH QUESTIONS AND IDEAS FROM PAUL HENKE (March 16, 1995): The key to finding out more information on the
family is to find an obituary or something in the court records about the death of Amasa. These records would probably tell
what family members are still alive and where they are living and probably married names of the daughters and maybe names
of the spouces. The 1880 census need to be check to find out where AMASA and his family are.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS AND IDEAS FROM PAUL HENKE (March 16, 1995)
On the census records it says Laura was born in the county of Ontario.
(in 1810 Ontario County included all of what is Ontario County today plus
parts of Livingston, Monroe, Wayne and Yates counties) I belive Monroe
County might have been part of Ontario County in 1809 when she was born. I
believe her father's name possible could have been Hezekiah because it is
quit common to name the first male child after the father of the mother. If
Monroe county was part of Ontario county in 1809 then it is quit possible
that Brighton could be the home of Laura's parents or one of the close
      neighboring communities, possibly Penfield.

      Children:
      1. Hezekiah Cook was born in 1830 in Brighton, Monroe, New York.
      2. Emily D. Cook was born in 1832 in Penfield, Monroe, New York.
      3. Jane Cook was born in 1834 in Brighton, Monroe, New York.
      4. 2. Charles Edward Cook was born in 1836 in Penfield, Monroe, New York.
      5. Eliza Cook was born in 1839 in Penfield, Monroe, New York.
      6. Esther Cook was born in 1843 in Penfield, Monroe, New York.
      7. William Cook was born in 1846 in Penfield, Monroe, New York.
      8. Florence Sabra Cook was born in 1850 in Penfield, Monroe, New York.

    Generation: 4

    1. 8.  William Cook was born on 06 Sep 1780 in Massachusetts (son of Abial Cook and Susanna(h) Cole); died on 04 Nov 1840 in Comstock, Kalamazoo, Michigan; was buried in Nov 1840 in Comstock, Kalamazoo, Michigan.

      RESEARCH NOTES: Paul Henke

The complete text of note from Lysander Berry to Hanna Cook Dayton reads as follows:

'Your Grandfather was William Cook. He had two brothers, Job Cook and Byle Cook. Your grandfather and his brother Byle married two sisters Lucy Chapman and Lois Chapman. William married Lucy, the other brother Job went away on a ship and was never heard of again. These Cooks came from Connecticut...' (no date on the note in possession of Ronald S Cook)

The existance of William's two brothers, Job and Byle and Lucy's sister, Lois is confirmed by the 'Proxey Baptism' list referred to above.

Henry F (Freeman) Cook is listed as 'son' when he was baptized for William Cook and 'Nephew' when he was baptized for Job and Abial (Byle). Hannah Cook Dayton was listed as 'Grand Daughter' when she was baptized for Lucy Chapman and 'Grand Niece' when she was baptized for Lois Chapman.

It is believed that all of William and Lucy's children were born in New York State. 'We have no record of the family being in Michigan until 1838' (Gertrude Cook Jackson - 2nd gg granddaughter).
